The Rising Role: APPs Shaping the Future of U.S. Healthcare
Demand for Advanced Practice Providers (“APPs”, inclusive of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and Nurse…
I’ve been focused on healthcare for almost my entire professional career, half as an equity research analyst (2006 – 2012) and most recently as an investment banker (since 2012). After starting out as an analyst in the Financial Control Group at Morgan Stanley, I quickly realized that my passion lay elsewhere, which led me to join an up-and-coming analyst to build the first ever healthcare services equity research platform at BB&T Capital Markets. I diligently worked my way up to Senior Research Analyst by age 27 (the youngest within the firm’s 15-member senior research team).
As a research analyst, I was regularly cited in major publications (Bloomberg, Dow Jones, Reuters) and made several live-TV appearances on CNBC’s Squawk Box and The Call.
I graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Finance and a Minor in Art History (concentration on Ancient Greece and Italian Renaissance studies) and hold series 7, 63, 79, 86 and 87 securities licenses.
I take great pride in my work product, particularly the ability to execute and deliver on behalf of our clients. While I enjoy working with private equity and their portfolio companies, for me, helping founders and entrepreneurs achieve their lifelong dreams, is truly something special. My father, a blue-collar, self-employed contractor, who worked with his hands his entire life gave me a piece of advice, “always do right by your clients and they will do right by you.”
One of my greatest professional accomplishments was working on a second-generation, family-owned home health and hospice business, and its ultimate sale to a publicly traded strategic buyer. It was a business I closely followed for almost ten years before having the opportunity to work with the sister (CEO) and brother (President) team to find the right partner and home for a legacy their parents started in 1970, almost 50 years ago.
One of my former colleagues said, “everything I learned, I learned from a client” and while that was not meant to be advice, it has proven to be gospel.
When I’m not in the office, I love playing hockey (ice or roller), tennis, soccer, volleyball and skiing. I met my wife on a blind date – she is nothing short of Superwoman, who makes the world go round while still somehow finding the time to raise our three kids (two girls and a boy).
Fun fact – my oldest daughter and son are not twins, but share the same birthday. We live in New Jersey along with our fearless guard dog – a mini goldendoodle named Charlie.
