The Opportunity
Edgemont is expanding its dedicated research and thought leadership platform to elevate the firm’s brand and strengthen its position as a premier source of healthcare sector intelligence. We are seeking a Director of Healthcare Research to lead this initiative.
This is a unique opportunity for a healthcare research professional who also brings digital content strategy expertise. The role sits at the intersection of healthcare intelligence, compelling content production, and multi-channel digital distribution. You will oversee Edgemont’s content ecosystem, developing research that supports business development while building a cohesive brand presence across the firm’s website, LinkedIn, email marketing, and industry events.
This is not a traditional “Head of Research” position focused solely on writing reports. We are looking for someone who can own the end-to-end content development process, from concept and analysis to formatting, design direction, and digital optimization across multiple platforms.
Your role will support origination and help drive business from PE firms and founders and as such you will be embedded in our team of Managing Directors.
What You’ll Do
Research & Content Production
- Collaborate with Managing Directors to translate market themes, deal insights, and sector intelligence into proprietary content
- Author deep-dives, market outlooks, conference recaps, and white papers
- Develop and maintain a production schedule
- Create derivative content from major reports, distilling key findings into LinkedIn posts, email blurbs, infographics, and short-form articles
- Produce evergreen educational content for founders (transaction preparation guides, quality of earnings primers, valuation overviews)
- Leverage AI-powered research tools to accelerate workflows while ensuring rigorous fact-checking and original analysis
Digital Strategy & Brand Development
- Oversee and optimize the digital content strategy across web, social, and email channels
- Build and manage an email newsletter program featuring curated healthcare headlines, transaction data, valuation multiples, and original analysis
- Direct graphic designers to produce visually polished and impactful deliverables aligned with Edgemont brand guidelines
Market Intelligence & Business Development Support
- Develop forward-looking thematic research on emerging sectors, consolidation trends, and regulatory developments
- Create conference-ready materials and insight briefs for major healthcare industry events
- Build and maintain a content calendar aligned to industry conference schedules, quarterly reporting cycles, outbound email campaigns, and seasonal M&A patterns
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- 5-15 years of professional experience in healthcare research, consulting, content production, or a related field with demonstrated published output
- Deep knowledge of healthcare industry dynamics, M&A trends, and key sectors (pharma services, healthcare IT, physician services, behavioral health, post-acute care, medical technology, or similar)
- Proven ability to produce institutional-quality written research: white papers, market reports, and analytical notes that resonate with sophisticated PE and corporate audiences
- Strong digital content expertise: understanding of how to format, optimize, and distribute content across Edgemont’s platforms for maximum engagement
- Graphic design awareness (not execution): ability to brief designers, provide formatting direction, and ensure visual quality of published materials across digital and print mediums
- Familiarity with AI-powered research tools (AlphaSense, Pitchbook, CapIQ, ChatGPT/Copilot, data analytics platforms) and ability to integrate them into research workflows
- Self-directed work style suited to minimal day-to-day oversight
- Excellent people skills: ability to collaborate with senior bankers, extract market insights from deal teams, and translate complex transaction experience into compelling published narratives
Preferred Background
We welcome candidates from healthcare or adjacent sectors such as:
- Former healthcare strategy consultants (BCG, McKinsey, LEK, or similar strategy/consulting firms) seeking a flexible, research-focused role
- Internal research professionals from healthcare organizations such as CROs, healthcare data companies, or health systems with a track record of published industry analyses
- Healthcare-focused journalists, editors, or content strategists with financial and analytical sophistication
- Marketing or content professionals from healthcare services companies with deep sector knowledge and digital expertise
- Sell-side or buy-side healthcare research analysts with content creation and digital distribution experience
What Sets You Apart
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and a skilled analyst that creates content as a strategic asset. You understand that a great white paper is only as impactful as its distribution, and you instinctively structure content for different platforms. Specifically, you combine:
- Healthcare domain expertise with strong writing ability
- Research rigor with digital content strategy sensibility
- Analytical depth with practical marketing and distribution knowledge
- The ability to produce, format, and optimize content for maximum digital impact across traditional platforms, and beyond
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit a resume and a brief cover letter describing their relevant experience and interest in the role. We particularly value candidates who can share examples of published research, content portfolios, or digital content strategies they have developed.
Please include links to any published work (articles, white papers, LinkedIn posts, newsletters, or similar) that demonstrate your research quality and digital content capabilities.
